ROAD TO EMMAUS: On a community level, there are more and more Moslem immigrants in western Europe and in America, and naturally they want to build mosques, schools, etc. In your lectures you’ve been talking about the danger of the spread of Islam. Should local Christians just say, “No, we don’t want a mosque here.”?
FR. DANIEL: I think it should be up to the discretion of the local people. Although the Moslems wanting to build the mosque may be very peace-loving people, who knows what will come out of it later?
RTE: Many Americans would say that preventing it is an infringement of their religious rights.For an excellent article exploring how one British lawyer has successfully stopped 16 of the 17 mosque construction cases he has represented, go here. Gavin Boby "uses the law to stop the building of mosques in the UK by demonstrating to local councils that the building of a mosque or an Islamic centre is actually in violation of British law."
FR. DANIEL: That is because you have the idea of the separation of church and state, and that is alright, but in Islamic ideology the religion and state are one, and when the number of Moslems increase they may start looking for political power...
As a reminder to anyone who is not already familiar with these statistics, four separate studies over the last ten years have consistently documented that upwards of 80% of mosques in the U.S. preach violent jihad and Islamic supremacism. A recent article by Ryan Mauro of The Clarion Project documents Muslim Brotherhood links to mosque initiatives in Oklahoma and Alabama. Mauro writes:

Stopping these mosque initiatives by Islamic supremacist organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood and its subsidiary entities in the U.S. will require savvy legal intervention along the lines of what Gavin Boby is doing in England. Local Residents Challenge U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Mosques
The controversies in Oklahoma and Alabama are just a glimpse of what the North American Islamic Trust is up to nationwide.

Local residents are challenging proposals to expand Muslim Brotherhood-linked mosques in Oklahoma and Alabama. The mosques’ land is owned by the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) which was identified as a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity by the federal government and the Brotherhood’s own documents.
The Islamic Society of Edmond in Oklahoma was victorious over Reverend Paul Blair of Fairview Baptist Church, who protested the Islamic Society’s plan to construct an activity center because the land is owned by the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and the listed applicant for the permit is the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).
A 1991 U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo identifies ISNA and NAIT as one of “our organizations and the organizations of our friends.” The memo says its “work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.” Federal prosecutors designated both as unindicted co-conspirators in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation for financing Hamas. The two were listed as U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities.
Blair’s testimony focused on these connections, but the planning commission in Oklahoma can only make its decision based on issues regarding land usage.
The Islamic Society of Mobile in Alabama is facing more difficulty as it hopes to build a 6,400-square foot mosque and a 5,000-square-foot school. The mosque says that the current buildings are “dilapidated” and must be replaced.
Initially, the planning commission voted in favor of the project, but the city council unanimously rejected its zoning application. In this case, residents insisted that their opposition has nothing to do with Islam. Indeed, none of the complaints have mentioned that the mosque is owned by NAIT.
The residents also did not focus on the fact that the mosque president’s son, Omar Hammami, has joined the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in Somalia, a branch of Al-Qaeda. He has appeared in Al-Qaeda propaganda videos and is called “The American.” He was radicalized by another mosque attendee and led the University of South Alabama’s Muslim Students Association chapter. The MSA, like NAIT and ISNA, is also listed by the Muslim Brotherhood as one of its fronts.
Omar Hammami’s relationship with his father, Shafik, soured as he became more radical. He was kicked out of the house in 2002 after he wouldn’t be photographed with the family. A senior Al-Shabaab terrorist claimed in May that Hammami had been killed in Somalia.
The mosque’s neighbors are worried about the values of their homes declining and excessive traffic. The city council was convinced of the credibility of their concerns.
“We have a parking issue and traffic issue now! What will we have when this entire project is completed?” asked resident Melodie Robinson.
“I use East Drive a lot, there have been times when there are cars lined on both sides of East Drive, leaving one little lane,” said another.
A report by the Urban Development Department concluded that the mosque will only have 25 parking spots during construction but 78 are required. The mosque says that it plans to build 96 spots after the project is finished.
Hammami nonetheless claims the opponents are playing “politics.” He accused the city council of committing a “travesty of justice” by siding with them and blamed the traffic on the narrow road on the nearby University of South Alabama.
NAIT’s presence is not confined to Oklahoma and Alabama. The U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity likely owns a facility near you. According to its website, NAIT holds the titles of over 325 properties in 42 states. It has been estimated that NAIT holds the deeds to one-fourth of the mosques in America.
This is especially concerning when you look at the reporting of a confidential FBI source inside the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood network in 1987-1988. A declassified FBI memo documents:
“As reported above by [name redacted]…NAIT, ISNA and various other Muslim organizations under the direction and control of the IKHWAN [Muslim Brotherhood] in the United States has as its ultimate goal political control of all non-Islamic governments in the world.”
Another FBI memo from 1987 warns that NAIT is being funded from overseas and its leaders have “indicated their support of terrorism in the U.S. to further the revolution.” However, violence is not the primary method of NAIT and the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.
The FBI memo goes on to say that NAIT’s “support of JIHAD (a holy war) in the U.S.” includes planning and funding anti-American and anti-Israeli demonstrations and publishing propaganda against U.S. foreign policy.
Unlike Al-Qaeda, the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood is focused on winning ideologically and politically. It isn’t as attention-grabbing as bombings, but it’s more productive. It’s one of the reasons that the Muslim Brotherhood’s success dwarfs that of Al-Qaeda.
